Post-Massage Care

After Session - Between Sessions

After Session

General Notes
  1. Hydrate- not just water
    1. Cold-pressed organic juices, coconut water, herbal teas, electrolytes.
    2. Until satiated. Do not drink so much you feel sick or over-full. Space it out.
  2. Epsom Salt Soaks
    1. 15-20 minutes, 2-3 cups of salts. Not too hot!
    2. Make sure to rinse and wash off in the shower!!!
  3. Rest
    1. Do not exercise or stretch unless discussed
    2. But don’t sit for too long :)

Forms of Relief
  1. Essential oil blends (Deep Blue, Marjoram)*
    1. Do not use with heat.
    2. Most essential oils can be used together, layered.
    3. A little goes a long way! One or two drops, preferably in a carrier oil.
  2. Magnesium gels or lotions
  3. Magnesium capsule or powder (start with low dosage!) ingested
  4. M’Lis Relief Blend
  5. CBD Products
  6. Topical analgesic pain relievers such as Biofreeze (10% is my favorite)
    1. Do not use with heat!
    2. Wait until they subside before washing!
  7. Alternate heat pack/cold pack.
    1. Approx 7min; hot then cold (listen to your body!)
    2. Typically end with cold.
  8. NSAIDS only when approved by physician
  9. Soaking in sauna, steam, bath, or shower
    1. Make sure to cool off after to bring the blood vessels/capillaries back to normal size
    2. Do not stay in too long- may cause muscle and/or joint discomfort from natural heat swelling

Until Next Time
  1. Schedule your sessions as consistent as possible to maintain results & prevent injury.
  2. Keep moving! A sedentary person is an ill person (as well as the opposite extreme- rest when needed).
  3. A spiritual/mindfulness practice keeps the body and mind from accumulating stress- which can manifest as dysfunction in the body.
  4. Follow your therapist's maintenance suggestions.
  5. When in doubt, listen to your body. As always, you are your best healer.
  6. Or, contact your healthcare professional.

Between Sessions

Maintenance Mode:
  • something we’d like you to be in
  • a proactive state of receiving care on a regular basis for the purpose of reducing accumulated stressors and preventing injury
  • clients acute issues have been significantly reduced
A therapists dream: client comes in, acute issues worked out in a minimal number of sessions, client returns on regular basis to prevent injury and reduce accumulated stress. Beneficial results grow from each session. Client has home care practice to further prolong the results of sessions. Its a beautiful thing.
